Here are the essentials about the Gap Finder, weekly lessons and how the founding GCSE groups will work.
Who is the group tuition for?
It is designed for Year 10 and Year 11 pupils who would benefit from clear explanations, structured practice and a more focused revision route. I’ll use your child’s year group, tier, current position and gaps to decide whether a group is likely to be a good fit.
What if my child is in Year 9 or younger?
Maths With Leon is currently focused on Year 10 and Year 11 pupils. If your child is in another year group, you’re still welcome to get in touch. I may introduce groups for younger pupils in the future, and I can let you know whether there is currently a suitable option.
Is it suitable for both Foundation and Higher tier?
Yes, the approach can support pupils working towards either tier. The free Gap Finder samples Foundation-focused skills, while the teaching programme takes account of each pupil’s current tier and needs.
How are the groups organised?
Each live group is capped at eight pupils and organised around year, tier and learning needs. The first 15 founding places are spread across groups, not put into one group of 15. This leaves room for questioning, feedback and regular checks for understanding.
Will my child get individual attention in a group?
Group tuition is different from one-to-one tuition, but pupils should not disappear into the background. With no more than eight pupils in a live group, I build frequent questioning, feedback and checks for understanding into lessons so I can see who needs another explanation and who is ready for more challenge.
What if my child’s gaps are different from the other pupils?
Groups are organised around broadly compatible year, tier and learning needs, but pupils will not have identical gaps. Topic checks help identify priorities, while questioning, targeted practice and follow-up work help me respond to individual needs.
Is this a replacement for school maths?
No. Maths With Leon complements school teaching by identifying gaps, strengthening understanding and giving pupils focused additional practice.
How long is each live session?
There is one 60-minute live online lesson each week. A typical lesson follows a clear sequence: Retrieve, Learn, Practise, Apply and Check.
What happens between lessons?
Pupils receive short, focused practice using the 20-Minute Maths Method. The intention is to make independent work specific and manageable rather than simply telling pupils to revise more.
What if my child misses a session?
Members receive access to the relevant recording and catch-up resources, so a missed session does not have to mean losing the topic completely.
How will I know whether my child is improving?
Understanding is checked during teaching and through regular review. Parents receive straightforward progress updates showing what has improved and where the next focus lies.
Does the Gap Finder predict a GCSE grade?
No. It is a short Foundation-focused skills snapshot covering ten core questions across five GCSE maths strands, with targeted follow-up questions where useful. It identifies useful revision priorities, but it does not replace a full assessment or predict a final grade.
How does the £59 founding offer work?
The founding offer is £59 per month rather than £99 per month and is limited to the first 15 members. Founding members keep the £59 monthly rate for as long as they remain continuously enrolled.
It includes the weekly live session, diagnostic-led progress route, short between-session practice, recordings and catch-up resources, progress checks and parent updates.
What if I’m not sure whether the group is right for my child?
That’s completely fine. Start with the free Gap Finder or send me a little information about your child’s year group, current tier and anything they’re finding difficult. I’ll let you know whether I think one of the groups is likely to be a good fit — there’s no pressure to join.
